Game Pass PC Down load or Play Issues

hello. I have had Gamepass Ultimate PC for several years now and never really had any problems till mow. I can open the app ok but if I try to down load a game or load to play a game I get no response. I have super fast internet with an ethernet cable direct to my pc, so no issue there. Steam games load and down load still great just not on game pass. I have deleted the app run the repair program that came back all clear no problems detected. I get no error messages when I try any thing it does nothing. when I try to down load a new game I select where to put the game and create a short cut click go and again it goes to the download screen and does nothing just sits there. I will say I'm not the most computer literate person but I've googled and youtubed till my eyes bleed and nothing helps. my Windows edition is Windows 11 home : 24H2 which installed 10/11/2024 I think my issue started around then but I do not know how to uninstall this update to go back to Version 23.when I go on Windows update history uninstall I have update for Microsoft Windows (KB5048162) and (KB5046740) that were in stalled on the 23/11/2024 any other updates were 2021. so do I uninstall these 2 to go back to windows 23H2 ? or would that crash it ? I think that covers my problem. any help would be much appreciated if you need anything else please ask. Thanks again.

Hi, chris jackson3.

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

From your description, I understand that you are having problems trying to download games using the Xbox app, and I understand your doubts about this issue.

Right-click on the app and select "Properties". In the pop-up window, switch to the "Compatibility" tab. Here, tick the option to "Run this program in compatibility mode" and select an earlier version of Windows like Windows 10, Windows 8, or Windows 7 from the drop-down menu.

You mentioned that your internet connection is fast, but nothing is responding when downloading or loading the game, please try changing your computer's DNS settings to a public DNS address. For example, Google DNS (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1). After changing the DNS, you need to restart your network device and computer for the settings to take effect.

Disclaimer: Before any reset, make sure you have backed up all your important data.

Over time, a functioning Xbox Game Services pack can become corrupted, which can cause loading failures or account switching issues. So we're going to delete the current installation and reinstall it. To do this, follow the steps specified below:

Click the Start key, search for Windows Powershell, and click Run as administrator.

Now enter the following command to uninstall the game service completely.

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

You have 10 days after Windows updates your system and you have the option to roll back the version.

If the above methods still don't work, I think you can try reinstalling your Windows system:

We look forward to hearing from you!

It sounds frustrating to experience issues with Gamepass Ultimate on your PC despite having fast internet and a direct Ethernet connection. Based on your description, it seems the problem started around the time of a recent Windows update. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot:

  1. Check for Updates: Ensure your Windows is fully up to date. Sometimes, new updates can resolve compatibility issues.

  2. Reset Gamepass App: Try resetting the Gamepass app by uninstalling it, then reinstalling it from the Microsoft Store.

  3. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from your GPU manufacturer’s website.

  4. Run Windows Troubleshooters: Use Windows troubleshooters for both Internet Connections and Windows Store Apps. These can sometimes identify and fix common issues.

  5. Check Antivirus/Firewall: Sometimes, security software can interfere with app downloads. Temporarily disable them and see if the issue persists.

Regarding rolling back the Windows update (KB5048162 and KB5046740), it’s generally not recommended unless absolutely necessary, as it could potentially lead to instability or security vulnerabilities. If the problem persists after trying these steps, contacting Xbox Support or visiting the Xbox community forums might provide further insights or solutions tailored to Gamepass issues.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need further assistance.
