Game bar capture doesn't record audio anymore

Did you remove the headset and card, restart to see if the problem goes away. This will tell you for sure if that caused it.

2) Try resetting Xbox Game Bar, Xbox Console Companion and Xbox Live in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Xbox feature > Advanced Options. Restart PC and try again.

3) If it still fails try re-registering the app from Option 2 here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

4) If those fail then try uninstalling the app in Settings location above, restart PC then reinstall from MS Store Settings > My Library.

5) If none of those fixes help then go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

6) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. Hi Greg,

I just tried unplugging the headset, restarted my computer and then tried recording using the 'previous minute' feature. This still produced a recording without sound. The thing is, I couldn't seem to remove 'THX Spatial Audio" from the audio outputs, even when uninstalling it from device manager. Perhaps this has something to do with the issue?

I also tried resetting all the Xbox apps that you listed, but it is still not fixed.

I used the website you listed to re-register the Xbox Game bar but the command did not seem to work.

Edit: I disabled the 'THX Spatial Audio' output and tried recording something but there is still no sound. I also tried recording myself watching a YouTube video but the recording still didn't have any sound.

2) Update the Sound controller driver from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there compare to make sure you also have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display, Network and all other drivers.

If no newer then uninstall the Sound controller driver in Device Manager, restart PC to reinstall it.

Next go into Device Manager, right click Sound controller driver to Upgrade driver, then Automatically.

If nothing newer found in Windows Update then try again but this time choose Upgrade Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick to try all previous drivers queued there.

Then do all of these same steps for microphone.

The links that you posted don't really seem to address my issue.

I did some more research, and it seems that it is an issue that occurs because of the sound card, and probably some other factors that I don't really know about. It seems that there are others that also have this issue, and so far I haven't found a solution to getting the Game bar to record audio through the sound card.

At this point I don't mind having this thread locked, but if you would like to help me continue looking into this issue then that would be great.

Is your problem that Game Bar will not record? Because every single tutorial I found for you addresses that specfiic issue, Game Bar not recording. It is a known issue and those are the fixes.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.

My issue was that the Game bar doesn't record audio. It still does record video, but not audio. I'm also not looking to record microphone audio, but audio that is played on my computer (such as videos, music etc).

I found a couple of threads of people with the same issue, which happens when using the Razer sound card. A link to one of these is linked below.

I have also looked at the video which addresses the issue of not recording audio, but I have already completed those steps.

I did a bit more testing with OBS, and it does record audio properly when the desktop audio is set to 'Razer USB Sound Card'.

I also did the same thing to the Game bar, but it still doesn't record audio, only video.

The bar for measuring microphone input does not move, even when audio is being played.

I do realise that in OBS it says 'Speakers' in front of the sound card but in the Game bar it says 'Microphone'.

A lot of these websites show fixes which I have already done, such as setting 'Audio to record' to All, and also enabling record audio.

Just skip those and complete the other ones. I always try to err on the side of being thorough so nothing is missed, or other ways are shown to do a fix that may work differently.

The other websites are about microphone issues or Game bar not recording at all, both of which are not what I am after.
