Function keys not working in Microsoft "Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000". - SOLVED

SOLVED: The KVM of choice does NOT relay the commands. [yes I spoke with the hardware manufacture of the KVM] - so does anyone know of a KVM that DOES support Pass-thru commands?

Original Title: intellitype keyboard F keys not working on XP.

We just installed several of the Microsoft "Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000" and discovered within a day that we are experiencing issues with the Function keys.  In our Vendor software we are supposed to use Shift + F11 to access a specific function.  However this keyboard shortcut fails to work.

I have installed the latest drivers from "http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/natural-ergonomic-keyboard-4000" for the Windows XP (32bit) and Windows 7 (64bit) and installed them on the appropriate machines.  Yet this problem still persists and I can not find a way to issue a new command outside of the vendor software to test if it is a keyboard hardware issue or not.

Any suggestions?

BTW the Vendor says "contact Microsoft", the SOP answer for "it's not our fault for your choice in hardware".

The application is developed for WinXP and later systems, each system is at minimum a dual core Athalon + 4gigs of memory, with the latest OS updates.

Thanks
Will

Hi Will,

Are you trying to use the keyboard in a domain environment?

You may follow this link & check if the issue persists:

Troubleshoot wired keyboards that don't respond or that type wrong characters

If it doesn’t help, I would recommend you to contact Microsoft Hardware support for assistance.
