Fortnite Crashes My PC when launched.

Recently my PC has begun completely crashing when I start up the game. I've gotten the blue screen with the frowning face a couple times, but most of the time it just black screens and bugs out taking me to my login screen and closing/stopping all other programs on the computer.

My hardware is a Nvidia EVGA 2070 Super

And a Ryzen 7 2700x

I've tried everything I can think of to resolve the issue.

  • Updated drivers for Graphics card.

  • Deleted and reinstalled the game multiple times

  • Verifed the game files

  • Run Epic games as administrator

  • Deleted and reinstalled Epic games launcher

  • Cleaned out driver caches

  • Moved the game to a different hard drive

  • Run command prompt for corrupted files

  • Used the windows + r command to run other scripts

  • Updated all my windows store apps

No other game on my PC has any issues and run exactly the same as before this began happening, its just Fortnite.

Any advice or suggestions would be fantastic as I am at a loss as to going about resolving this issue.

Ideally I'd like to avoid having to do a complete reinstallation of windows.

Hi Aidan,

Did you find a solution to this problem? We are having the same issue and cant for the life of us find a solution, we have also done all of the above.

Hoping yours is back to normal.

Any solutions yet. I've done the same thing with no luck. Launching Fortnite now will either randomly launch, crash when playing, get stuck at "anti cheat", not launch at all, give BSOD. Nothing works to remedy this.

I had the same exact issue for months and finally got it to work again. I had to do a number of things including

  1. Update my Nvidia Drivers

  2. I uninstalled the Easy Anti Cheat and reinstalled (admin) and also the game.

  3. Repaired the anti cheat and game files new install to be safe

  4. Did all the command line clean up tools

I did try to run the game after each step however nothing worked. I was about to give up when I "repaired" the AntiCheat again and when I started the game to my surprise it worked and worked very well! No crashes, no excessive delays in getting into the launcher and no BSOD.

In the end I think that a windows update corrupted something and all the steps above solved the issue in some way.

I was just about to build a new PC when I gave it a "last shot" which worked. Don't give up!

No, it's happening on Win10 for me. Seems to have started happening with an update (as someone mentioned). Not sure which one. I was running super smooth with a decent frame rate and it went to ****. I've successfully uninstalled everything, did an sfc, and reinstalled. I also updated graphics driver. When I did this everything ran super fast with no BSOD and better frame ratres. HOWEVER, there was recently another update and now the issue is back. Not as bad but it affects the connection noticeably. Once I connect it's not bad but it takes forever and after a match getting to the lobby takes ages. It never did that before. It's a royal PITA launching, waiting and then finding yourself being pic axed to death in the water. :/

I've had this issue running for about 8 months from now. Connecting used to happen in seconds. Now it takes up to 2+ minutes to connect AND in between matches or going back to the launcher/lobby will take forever. I actually cleaned up everything last month and it was running very fast but something changed recently (MS update?) and now it's back. Not as horrible as it was at its worst but still enough to be very annoying. It's a bit concerning when you find yourself in mid air over the water boundary and every worse, like you mentioned, being axed to death (not to say I haven't taken advantage of that situation once or twice ;) - )

I read that it may have been due to Nvidia drivers which can cause BSOD in Win10 and older machines but that's not the case. I have the latest (game) drivers. If you haven't done so already (I suspect you have), uninstall everything including the BattleEye and try that. It may improve it until the next MS screw-update. See ya in the game ;)
