Flight Simulator 2000 on Windows 10

I installed Flight Simulator 2000 on my HP with Windows 10 but when I click the icon on the desktop I get a window asking me if I want it to make changes and when I click yes it goes no further.  Is it compatible with Windows 10?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will assist you with this.

You might be facing this issue due to the incompatibility of the game with Windows 10. So I suggest you to install the game in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Now, to install in Compatibility Mode, follow these steps:

a. Locate the executable file (.exe file) for the driver installation program.
b. Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
c. In the Package Name Properties dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
d. Click to select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, click Windows 8 with which it is compatible with in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, and then click OK.
e. Double-click the executable file to start the installation program.

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further. Thank you.

I have done all of the above and still cannot run FS2000      FX is ok but I like to fly Concord which is on 2000.

You can still download Concorde for FSX.   There are various, but one is here:

Don't know how accurate this one is, but an option for you to consider.

The above suggestion was for installation of FS2000 in compatibility mode.   However, since you already have it installed, can you go back to the .exe file and try launching the Sim as Administrator and if that doesn't work, to set the compatibility (from Properties) to an earlier version of Windows and try launching it now?

I tried all of the compatibility modes and none of them worked.  Very frustrating and not the first challenge with my windows 10 upgrade.

FS 2000 is seventeen years old. Do you think that all computer programs will remain compatible with all new versions of Windows ad infinitum?

If you are referring to FS2000, then probably it's no longer compatible with later Windows OSs.   Some are having problems with installing FS2004 and FSX, so your version is now obsolete.

If you're interested in flight simming and have a good computer with a fast CPU and graphics card, then you may want to check out other Sims on the market.  FSX-Steam Edition is a direct replacement for FSX.   Prepar3d and X-Plane also put out great Sims.   If you want something simple and free, then try Microsoft Flight.   Links below:
