File Explorer always open on start up from sleep mode

Since last Windows 10 update KB4051963, My file explorer always opens after coming out of sleep mode to my G: drive which is my backup external usb drive. Virus scan shows no viruses. Nothing unusual in task manager / startup. this only happens after sleep mode not restart of fresh start. please give me some suggestions as to how to resolve this issue.  Thanks Eric

Hi Eric,

This is more likely due to some settings that was changed to system defaults after the update installation. To verify that, kindly follow the steps below:

1. Open All settings in the Action Center.

2. Click on Personalization.

3. Click on Start.

4. Click on CHOOSE WHICH FOLDERS APPEAR ON START.

5. Make sure that the switch for File Explorer if set to OFF.

Let us know how it turned out.

Thanks Joanna, I have already checked this and File Explorer is already set to off. When the external drive is unplugged all works fine the issue only occurs when my backup drive is attached ...,.Eric

Disabling AutoPlay in your Windows 10 settings will probably do the trick.

Open the Settings, and click on the Devices icon.

Click on AutoPlay, and switch on/off Use AutoPlay for all media and devices. With this switched off, you will never see the AutoPlay window pop up.

However, you can also leave AutoPlay on, and customize how it works.

Under Choose AutoPlay Defaults, select the default action you want AutoPlay to perform when you connect each type of media or device.

You can also press and hold the Shift key when your insert your backup drive to open an AutoPlay notification, regardless of the default setting.

Now, did File Explorer launched again when you plugged in your backup drive?
