Feeds / Search application using all of the ram

I noticed that the PC started running slow today and opened task manager to see that System, Feeds (Search application) is using CPU and Disk quite heavily and as much ram that it can to pin it to 100%.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Update: Windows crashed and i restarted, same application started to ramp up again so i ended it.

Hi Erosicion,

I saw more affected users today.

Do you have anything less common installed on your computer (3rd party antivirus, protected software ...)?

Have you installed latest KB5010415 cumulative update preview?

Why would third part apps affect the role that the feeds applicaiton runs on. Feeds should only be checking for certain news and location based services. I have many of theses fearures disabled because feeds constantly is bugging me. If the applicaiton is doing something outisde these realms it is a breach of privacy & microsoft is accessing services not stated in the application EULA.

On that note, why does this application take up 30 out of my 32 gb of ram.

The problem has been reported by many, but not all users. This usually means the problem is not just in the app, but happens in some more or less rare combinations with something. Like I can see dozens of hreads referencing nvidia libraries (kinda unexpected) and obviously lots of Edge webplatform calls.

Unfortunately the memory leakage NOT happen on my computer, so I cannot participate directly.

Would you guys have chance to see what threads of Feeds (SearcHapp.exe) are most memory hungry? ProcessExplorer will help.

Could be drivers. I’m running a pretty non-standard graphics card Quadro p4000 and nvidias 3d application drivers for 3d modeling in solid works and master cam respectively.

I think I'm having the same issue too. Just started the afternoon - computer is revving and running so slow at times I can't use it. I've only had it 2-3 months (refurbished) so I haven't added much to it.

What can we do about this please!!?

Yes, I just had this happen to me too. I'm on a Ryzen 7 5800x and it used up 15gb/16gb RAM. I just ended the task as well. Hopefully it doesn't come back.

Ending the SearchApp task has quietened everything down for now - fingers crossed but I'm not feeling too optimistic!

I've checked my updates too, only one thing updated today (related to Defender Antivirus) and the same cumulative update as you JimmahChongah ( KB5010342) yesterday. Which includes something about the News and Interests feed - is that what Feeds is, which includes the problematic SearchApp? I have no idea with this stuff.
