Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903 - Error 0x80080008 - stuck with this issue

Hi!

I have looked already at a few threads and tried to follow suggestions on this but to no avail

when i go the windows update option in my settings on my windows 10 64bit laptop, - i see that since 12 august the update has been unsuccessful, i hit retry and just get this error

"There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903 - Error 0x80080008"

I have look up lists of solutions and done the DISM.exe and SFC scannow thing and that all went fine,- errors were found and fixed, but still the update wont work

i went back to the admin command prompt and did these commands  (not all of which worked - for tghe REN commands the files were not found and wuauserv said try again later)

  • net stop wuauserv
  • net stop cryptSvc
  • net stop bits
  • net stop msiserver
  • ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
  • ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old
  • net start wuauserv
  • net start cryptSvc
  • net start bits
  • net start msiserver

that did not work - update still not happening

also i notice my system says it is build 1803 - which i dont understand as i have had system updates back in july

i have 50gb free on my c drive so i have the space for the 1903 update

i tried to install again the last windows KB update and that did not work

i read in another site that the cause is file Wups2.dll not being installed correctly - however i havent found a solution to install it correctly

do i need to update to version 1809 first before i can get to 1903 - i dont understand why i am still reported as having build 1803

Hello,

If you can't install a feature update using Windows Update, you can upgrade to latest Windows 10 version using its ISO file.

Download the ISO file from here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

Then perform the upgrade, using this step-by-step guide:

https://www.kapilarya.com/how-to-upgrade-to-windows-10-using-iso-file

Or you can also perform the clean install:

Hope this helps!
