Fatal Error - "Installation Ended Prematurely because of an error"

I am using HP Pavilion Laptop with Win7 Home Premium Pre- loaded. When I try to install micro-controller compiler Programs like FlowCode 4 and MikroC, it returns with an error

1. Flowcode - Fatal Error - "Installation ended prematurely because of an error".

2. MikroC - The software encountered with an problem.

3. Windows Explorer - Windows Explorer encountered an problem and needs to close.

4.  Mozilla Firefox - Mozilla Firefox encountered an problem and needs to close.

 

All the above softwares works fine with Windows 7 Home Basic in Dell Laptop.

a. Are you logged in as the administrator of the computer?
b. Do you get any error code alonwith with these error messages?
c. Did you make any software changes recently?
 
 
These are some of the steps which will help the windows installer to work without any error.

Method 1.
Check if the Windows installer service is started
1. Click start->type in services.msc and press enter-> check for windows installer->start the service if it’s stopped

2) If Windows Installer does not work correctly, open Problem Reports and Solutions to see if a solution is available.
Open Problem Reports and Solutions by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking  System and Maintenance, and then clicking Problem Reports and Solution
 
3) Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:
             1. On the "Start" menu, click "Run:.
              2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
              3. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".
              4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
 
 
Method 2.
Since there are some non-system applications running I would recommend you to install it in the Clean Boot state and check.
Enable a Clean Start: 
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
     User Account Control permission.
     If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the
     password, Or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.
 
If the issue is resolved check which third party is causing the problem, referring the link given below:

8. Install the softwares now and check.

Reset the computer to start as usual
9. After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
10. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK. 
11. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.
 
Method 3.
If the issue still exists provide us the event viewer logs.
Type eventvwr.msc /s in the address bar.
  List any events that are listed as "Error" in the main window when you go to "Windows Logs" and "Application." There are often a lot of them. Send us whichever ones you see listed for the last couple days. (Please also do for the logs in "System"). When you do, provide us the name of the "Source" and whatever is listed in the description box below the list of logs when you click on one.

I tried Method1, Method2, Method3 but all failed. The software is returning the same fatal error. Can somebody download the flowcode software and test it in windows7 home premium to find out what is the problem especially in Hp Pavilion Laptop? Because the software works fine in Windows XP and Windows 7 Home Basic.

What version of Windows 7 are you using? The different versions are Windows 7 Starter, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate. There is not a Windows 7 Home Basic version but there is a Windows Vista Home Basic. Is that the version that is on your Dell Laptop?

Have you tried to install by right click on the setup.exe or .msi and choose "Run as Administrator"?
What errors do you have in the Event Viewer?

           There is Windows 7 Home Basic, have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions. I have tried running the program as administrator as well as by using compatibility suite. In event viewer error code is 1603(win7 home premium). Sometimes fire-fox as well as windows explorer crashes.

I stand corrected as there is a Windows 7 Home Basic in other countries. Are you using Windows 7 Home Basic?

Have you tried to install these programs in Safe Mode?

Start the program in safe mode

1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key (it may be a different function key on your computer) on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when you see the boot menu.

2. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter.

3. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with the Administrator privilege.

 

Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return the system back to Normal Mode, we can simply restart the computer.


To determine whether the issue that occurs with the program is caused by another program that is running in the background, we recommend that you restart the computer in safe mode and then test the program. If the program runs correctly in safe mode, but does not run correctly in normal mode, there likely is another program that is conflicting with the program in question.

To determine which program is causing a conflict with the program in question, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is intended to disable as many background services and programs as possible. This helps determine which service or program may be causing the problem.

In safe mode, be sure and run the installation in an elevated mode and select, Run as Administrator.

Dear  Marilyn,

 

          There is no safe mode for win7 home premium especially in HP Laptop except that it has one touch recovery console. I tried by disabling the programs in ms config but installation failed. I tried by running the program as administrator also.

You might try the forums at http://www.mikroe.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12&sid=f83288c06575f7d29ddb7c04ede15c69 to see if they can help with your installation issue since they would be more familiar with the software you are installing.

I have included the link for a FlowCode forum. There are different one for FlowCode 2 & 3 and a separate one for FlowCode 4. I'm not sure what version you are using.

The registration key of vbscript under ( 32bit and 64 bit versions)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

is wrongly repeated under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. This would explain why sometimes running the installation as an administrator sometimes works.
