F7, F8, F9 keys do no longer function correctly

Hi, On my laptop (HP EliteBook 850 G6) the function keys are shared with the control of hardware:

F7 Loudspeaker: turn up; F8 Microphone: on/off; F9 Keyboard illumination: on/off

I use occasionally a program which needs these function keys (not for hardware control): The last time I used it, those keys functioned correctly. Now no longer, they only control the hardware; the program seem not to be able using them. Performing the commands in the program with the selected option does function; only their alternative use with the function key not. How can I find out whether an other (updated?) application is blocking their use by other programs and how can I correct it? Thanks for your help.

Hi MET_02

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

If pressing the function key (F7- F9) does not work on its own, if you press the Fn key + F7, or F8 or F9 does that produce the requited action?

If so, boot your laptop into BIOS and in there look for a Media Keys/Function keys setting and toggle that setting

Or. f your press the Fn key +Esc key, does that toggle the need for the Fn key to be pressed?
