explorer.exe gets in infinite restart loop.

After update to windows 11 insiders preview (got normal update in settings/update center) im having troubles with windows explorer.exe. Right after win11 installation it got in infinite restart loop, i've tried to stop it and start with admin permissions myself from task manager (windows+R doesn't seem to work also as any win+key combos). Also tried to use sfc /scannow and reboot the PC. Still my explorer.exe doesn't work also as any of related things such as desktop.

Hi again upon more messing around it turns out the issue for me was Just the task bar being changed from center to the left. So another words leave you task bar centered. Also try making sure if you use a NVidia card use the DCH drivers and not standard.

Reason of this is fully charged battery on laptop. If you unplug DC and wait for draw battery to 99% explorer didn't reloads. I hope that this issue fix in near update @microsoft

For Lenovo notebooks helps if you enable "Power save mode" in Lenovo Vantage to prevent full charging (battery cahrge to 55-60%) for other notebooks helps disable finding battery in "Device manager"

I had exactly the same problem as OP. The battery in my laptop is dead, so the solution with turning it off in device manager immediately solved the issue. Thank you.

I restored it using System Restore to an old point, but still Windows 11, by entering system recovery: shutting down the computer during startup and turning on again.

This bug started after installing the new update, KB5004745.

I'm stuck with this situation too, infinite explorer restarts, plus my system restores of previous versions are failing. If I kill Windows Explorer from Task Manager, the system becomes stable, but of course I can only run tasks by going to File/"Run new task" from the Task Manager menu - obviously not super awesome. At the moment, I'm going to get by with that for a bit and see if someone comes up with a workaround. I'm on a desktop machine so can't unplug and run on battery :)

This is the second update to Windows 11 and it adds a new search bar to the Start Menu, Power modes for Windows Settings, and improves the overall taskbar experience.
