Event ID 28 disconnecting USB devices

I've been encountering problems with USB devices disconnecting for the last few weeks, can range from once/twice a day to every hour

Whenever it happens, USBs devices (in specific USB slots, seemingly only ones connected to the chipset) will disconnect briefly, then after 10-15 seconds, will reconnect

I have tried almost every suggestion such as moving them around, a Microsoft agent has gone through my PC to update drivers, updated Chipset, update BIOS, updated Windows, disabled Memory integrity, reinstalled GPU drivers, repaired system files (SFC + DISM) and Windows memory test

Only thing I haven't tried is fresh Windows install

When it occurs, I always get Event ID 28 - Error setting traits on Provider {8444a4fb-d8d3-4f38-84f8-89960a1ef12f}. Error: 0xC0000001 Keywords (2048),(512),Provider

I have removed as many USBs as I can and am seeing if this resolves the issue but is there any idea what could be causing this issue

When re-enabling memory integrity, I have seen the option to enable Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection being blocked by incompatible drivers - both being easyanticheat.exe which I do need

Could this driver being updates be causing the issue possibly? I hope not as I don't think I can do much about it

Hello JamesW28 and welcome to the Microsoft Community!

According to your feedback, you are experiencing problems with USB device connectivity.

According to your description, the problem is occurring on a specific USB port and you have tried a lot of very necessary methods.

So I'm thinking it might be a hardware issue.

I have seen this problem occurring more and more frequently.

To further confirm this, I think you can click on the windows key > search and open the device manager when the port is disconnected

and see if there are any abnormal drivers showing up.

In addition to this, there is an issue with the kernel mode hardware forced stack protection option being blocked by an incompatible driver when memory integrity is enabled.

This has been reported by many users, and it is true that when memory integrity is enabled, there are cases where the windows system and the driver are not compatible.

Therefore, you can turn off memory integrity

Turning on memory integrity can cause problems with many games, including but not limited to blue screens.

Then you can wait for some time for the windows development team to fix the problem.

We hope you find the above information helpful
