Ethernet and Wifi Adapter freeze

So I have a brand new computer (1 week) I just built with an asus rog z790 maximus hero running Windows 11. I started noticing that the internet will just go out occasionally and I can not get back without a reboot, I have it wired to my 2.5g switch which is working fine as nothing else goes offline. When this happens I have tried resetting my "Intel(R) Ethernet Controller I226-V" adapter which just freezes, enable/disable doesn't work, uninstall doesn't work, updating drivers doesn't work. After it goes out I thought I'd try the Wifi which also doesn't work, it just sticks on "identifying" and is also unable to disable/enable. All drivers are the newest available, and motherboard BIOS is as well.

Hi,
My name is Igor, I have 12 Microsoft MVP awards. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you. I'm sorry you have a problems.

Please reinstall all network drivers from ASUS support site. Newest driver does not mean best unfortunately. Best drivers often are the drivers from motherboard manufacturer's site.

Please check system journal (Event Viewer) for possible errors at these moments. DistributedCOM errors should be ignored.
Or save system journal to evtx file and share it to OneDrive for analysis.

Could you go a little deeper regarding your network setup? How does the internet come in and where is the WAN port?

Upstream of the switch is what?

When you get drivers from the ASUS site, make sure and expand out each section to see if there are additional drivers you might need.

The internet is fine for all other devices on the network and switching ports or plugging directly into the router does not prevent the issue but, the switch it connected to the router which is connected to the cable modem.

All drivers are installed;

Nothing stood out to me but here is the system event log: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoR0MFOzLlEolich3ObpLF8E1WgM?e=2OhJMb

Your chipset driver version shows the number for the utility to install it, not the actual chipset driver. I will assume that is normal since I don't use Armory Crate.

If your Internet modem is a Gateway type situation, did you bypass the built-in Wi-Fi? Or, is your router not a Wi-Fi version?

You might look at the properties for the devices and check the Event tab. If things are working normally, it should not have many entries in it. Another way to create a graph you can use to look for ongoing problems is by using the command below in a run box.

prefmon /rel

Beyond this, if you really think about it, could there be anything else going on which might affect your network connections. I had a situation once, because of a bad cable box next to a Fire station, whenever a firetruck came out of the barn and made a radio transmission, I would get errors on my network.

The fact you say you cannot disable one of your devices while the problem is occurring, really sounds strange. Hopefully, it isn't some type of system instability involved.

System journal shows some services including DNS stop unexpectedly. This may mean some software or hardware problems.
Please repair system files by
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
command from Windows Terminal (admin) environment.

It has been 48 hours since I made 5 change that seems to have fixed the issue for now...

  1. Disabled the WIFI adapter

  2. Disabled Bluetooth

  3. Disabled LLMNR

  4. Disabled NetBIOS Name Service

  5. Changed the Power Plan to "High Performance"

#5 I had already turned off the power management feature on my ethernet adapter but at this point I can't tell which one of those was the fix. #3 and #4 were because of a system event I saw stating port exhaustion. #1 and #2 I figured since these are all on the same chip that maybe it was the issue.
