Error Message When Installing Windows 10

Image

Because my computer was running slow, I decided to reser my computer. However, every time it was on the bootup screen, it would display the message seen in the picture. Clicking OK will just repeat the process (the message will eventually show up again.) If soneone can help with me on this, that would be great. I have a Lenovo Ideapad 320 laptop.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This issue could occur when if the Windows installer service is corrupted or if the installation media you are using is corrupted, you can try few of the troubleshooting steps below to further narrow down to the root cause of the issue.

1.    Are you doing a fresh installation of Windows from a USB?

2.    Or are you trying to reset the PC by wiping everything on the system?

Method 1: Registry fix for unexpected error during reset.

If you are not able to get to the desktop screen, follow method 3 and create a bootable USB, after which you can boot from the USB, when you get to the install now screen hit Shift + F10 key on your keyboard and follow the below steps from step 2, if you are able to get to the desktop screen follow the below steps directly.

1.    Press Windows + R key on your keyboard together.

2.    Type regedit and hit enter.

3.    Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\ChildCompletion.

4.    From the right pane, double click setup.exe key.

5.    Change the value to 3.

6.    Click on Ok, close the registry.

7.    Reboot the computer and try to reset after that.

Method 2: Get help with Windows 10 upgrade and installation errors.

I suggest you please check the article Get help with Windows 10 upgrade and installation errors and try the General fixes from the article, if you get any specific error code, you can check the same article for that particular troubleshooting.

Method 3: Create a new bootable media.

If you are trying to do a fresh installation and you are facing this issue, I suggest you to create a new bootable USB and try again.

Method 4: Clean installation.

If you don’t have any data concern and if you are trying to wipe everything on the system and perform a clean installation you can follow the article How to Clean Install Windows 10 on a PC Step-by-Step Guide and perform the installation.

If you still face the issue, reply to this post with more information.
