Error message "too many redirects".

I'm running Windows 7, using Chrome browser and have My Yahoo set as my home page on my desktop.  I can't access My Yahoo as I get the error page "webpage has redirect loop" with sub message "too many redirects".  I've followed the detailed instructions and deleted cookies, accepted third party cookies and tried different browsers.  I'm able to access My Yahoo on all other devices.

Hi Janet,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Let me ask you;

  • Is the issue specific to Google Chrome browser?
  • Are you facing any issues using Internet Explorer?

If the issue is specific to Google Chrome, I would recommend posting your query in Google Chrome support forum for the best possible answer to your query.

If you are facing issues with Internet Explorer as well, please revert with answers to following questions;

  • What is the version of Internet Explorer are you using?
  • Which security software is installed in the computer?
  • When was the last time it was working fine?
  • Do you remember making any specific change in the computer prior to the issue?

If you are facing issues using Internet Explorer as well, you may try the following methods and let us know the result.

Method 1: I recommend that you clear your browser's cache and temporary internet files to make sure that they are not causing your issue. Please clear your browser's cookies by following the instructions.

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Internet Explorer, and then in the list of results, click Internet Explorer.

  1. Select Tools (via the Gear Icon) > Safety > Delete browsing history....
  1. Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favorites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click Delete.

  2. You will get a confirmation at the bottom of the window once it has successfully cleared your cache and cookies.

If issue still persists try method 2.

Method 2: I would suggest you follow the steps from the article given below and check.

Cannot access some websites in Internet Explorer

Note: The steps in the article for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 applies to IE 11 for Windows 7 as well.

Important: The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might reset security settings or privacy settings that you added to the list of Trusted Sites. The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature might also reset parental control settings. We recommend that you note these sites before you use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.
