"Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion"

After March 15, 2017 Windows 10 1607 update my WiFi adapter ( Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260) just quit working.

After doing some searching I ended up finding more questions than answers. I checked my WLAN AutoConfig Properties and came across the error 1075 message. Also under the "Dependencies" tab there are no dependencies listed in the two boxes for components  for system or service. Now what??

I've tried uninstalling drivers etc but no luck. I even tried to uninstall the update but there is no uninstall button in the update section.

Hi Peter,

The update may have caused the driver to malfunction, causing this problem. Additionally, the error may be due to a program or system component that was uninstalled incorrectly. We may need to modify the registry to fix the error. Follow these steps:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R.
  2. Type regedit then press Enter.
  3. Click Yes if you get a prompt window.
  4. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp.
  5. Right-click the DependOnService entry, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, make sure these are the only services listed:
    • Tcpip
    • Afd
    • NetBt
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
  8. Restart the computer.

If you are uncomfortable in editing your computer registry, we suggest you restore your PC to an earlier point in time. Doing so will restore your registry to a state when the changes due to the updates were not yet applied.

Let us know if you need more help.

Regards.

Hi Ruz.

I gave that a try but no luck.

There is another update downloading. Waiting to see what it is. If that doesn't fix it I may purchase a disk and do a fresh install.

Been having problems with this WiFi Adapter since it was installed too (for some reason it just quits working). Quite a few forums with complaints. Not sure why there is a compatibility issue with it and Windows 10. The Intel AC-7260 is a popular WiFi Adapter Card but Microsoft and Intel can't seem to communicate or fix the issue.

Cheers and thanks for your assistance,

Peter

There seems to be an Intel site devoted to that adapter...

I hope you spot something helpful there. Good luck, & keep us informed.

Already have been there.

Seems I'm not the only one having issues with March 14th update. Various issues! Read comments at this link.

It seems the March 14 Patch (KB4013418) is flawed for a lot of users...

Thank you,

Peter

I've been lucky never to suffer near as bad as others from these updates, if at all. I actually continue to look forward to the updates. They even have cured minor ills I've had or added new features for me.

But I do feel upset for you & others sadly afflicted. It's especially upsetting that normal big fixes - like SFC, DISM, PowerShell stuff, even RESET now - won't fix the horror these updates are delivering to some. Could be MSFT is obsolescing your hardware. But these things seem to happen to new computers as well.

Did you double-check the recommended settings at that site...?...

Recommended Settings for 802.11n Connectivity

It could be the update has just messed with a setting.

Dear PCR

Hardware is not that old (Maybe in the computer world).

This is a bigger issue as more complaints are showing up in different forums.

Thanks for your input and have a great week.

Somehow the update corrupted the Wlan Auto Config in Services, when I try and start it the error 1075 code comes up....16 days with no WiFi.

Going to need the WiFi in 2 weeks and Microsoft doesn't seem to care!

I think probably KB4013418 didn't mean to obsolesce you, but only did not properly handle your Wi-Fi adapter.

(1) What happens when you plug directly to the router, which establishes an Ethernet connection? Does that seem to work well? It is totally independent of Wi-Fi, different drivers. [In my case (that day I inadvertently switched off my Wi-Fi), all I did was plug in the Ethernet cable, & instantly I had the NET back.]

(2) Spend time at that site checking settings & reading articles. I hope something turns up.

(3) What is your computer & model? There may be something at its site too.

I hope something turns up. Good luck, & keep us informed. Wi-Fi is a tough one to deal with, as I'm sure you've seen in other threads here.
