Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start

Greetings,

During application install on Windows Server 2016 I had to change name of the server (hostname).

After changing the name and restarting the server I had a vast number of services not working (stopped):

Network and Sharing Center is not showing any of my adapters (they are shown in device manager though)

Server

Network Location Awareness

Intel Ethernet Thermal Sensor Monitor Service

Network Store Interface Service

Agentless Management Service

DHCP Client

Windows Firewall

UPnP Device Host

Workstation

IP Helper

Windows Remote Managment

User Access Logging Service

Diagnostic Policy Service

Distributed Transaction Coordinator

I cannot start them in Services because I get the "error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start" error. If I try to start their dependencies I get the same.

If I try to start Server service I get the 1753 error

If I try to start Firewall service I get error code 87

So far I tried everything from the guide on this link:

https://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-the-dependency-service-or-group-failed-to-start/

and I have tried to return the original server hostname but this did not solve anything.

I still haven't tried to perform repair Windows installation since that is the really last resort.

Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Hi Kapil

Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, it did not work for me.

Since this is a server with SQL based application i believe there is an error in registry or dll that i need to chase down.
