Enable Insights in Sticky Notes

Hi

I have just upgraded Windows 10 to Version 1607 & Build 14393.10.

When I start the Ink Workspace and open Sticky Notes (1.0.136.0) I don't get the option to Enable Insights.

I therefore cannot get Cortana to recognise any reminders I write and SN does not recognise any lists I make.

As this is one of the supposedly great new features of the update I was looking forward to can anyone suggest any solutions or point me in the direction of what may be the problem?

Thanks

Hi,

First Ink intelligence features are only available in EN-US at launch, with more markets coming soon.

Go to Settings > Region & Language. Once there, ensure your Country or Region is set as United States and Ensure your Languages is set as English (United States). Both of these must be set.

Then check if this is how you are trying to enable insights in Sticky notes.

  1. Open the Sticky Notes app.

  2. Click/tap on the 3 dots menu button, and click/tap on Settings.

  3. Click/tap on Enable insights to toggle to disable (uncheck) or enable (check) it

Please get back to us if you continue to face the issue.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Jessen.

The problem is I don't get the Enable Insights option on Sticky Notes - all I get is Send application usage stats:

Also when I ran the SFC scan it came back with no violations found.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a new command line tool that you can use to service a Windows image or prepare a Windows PE image. The DISM tool replaces the Package Manager (pkgmgr.exe), PEimg, and Intlcfg tools. DISM consolidates the functionality found in those three tools, as well as delivers new functionality to improve the experience of offline servicing.

Please follow the given steps to run a DISM scan:

1) Press Windows + x on your keyboard.

2) Select Command prompt (Admin) to open Administrator Command prompt.

3) In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command:

     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

     dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Thank you.

Hi Jessen

I have followed your instructions:

But nothing has changed – I still cannot access reminders in Sticky Notes etc.

I have restarted the Surface Book and re-installed Windows 10 but I still have the same problem!!

Thanks

I'm 99% certain the issue is that we (the people without Insights in Sticky Notes) aren't in the USA.  Here's my experimentation with changing my PC's Region settings.

If I set my PC's Region to United States of America, Sticky Notes pops up a window asking if I wish to enable Insights, and works (hence the sticky in the middle).

Setting Region back to Australia prevents it working.

Hi Atpaw

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

I changed the settings you suggested and restarted a number of times but no luck.

Why would such an option be limited to the US in the first place - it's crazy!!

Thanks for your help

Ah - I came here to find out why this 'new feature' I'd read about doesn't seem to work, and there's my answer - It's only half finished! I'm in the UK, and I'm certainly not going to be changing the language to a foreign country just because you guys couldn't be bothered to finish the app to work in other countries besides your own.
