Elgato 4K X Audio Has Static and is Choppy Slightly

I recently purchased an Elgato 4K X external capture card for my PC setup. I am having an audio problem where the audio is decently static and choppy. I have been in contact with Elgato customer service over the past couple of months and we have tried numerous ways to troubleshoot the issue. Even after a replacement product has been sent to me, the problem does still persist, albeit, the replacement caused much improvement on the issue.

While I am in still works with Elgato customer support on this issue, they did want me to reach out and see if there were any known issues with Windows 11 working with the Elgato 4K Capture Utility Software, or any other known capture card, based sound issues with Windows 11.

Thank you so much for your help with this!

Verification also, all software and firmware of all kinds is up to date, my pc setup does meet and exceed the necessary requirements for the 4K X card, and all my cables are plugged in correctly, and show no signs of wear and tear.

Hi, Joebronious

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Since this type of device is quite specialized, we don’t have the appropriate testing environment to replicate your issue. It also seems that not many users have reported this problem on this forum. However, some users on gaming-related forums have discussed issues like audio delay with capture cards. They typically use OBS to capture audio, and some users have found that changing the setting to capture audio only, then going to Windows Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound, finding your device, and clicking “Listen to this device” can help. If you have similar settings, you might want to try this to see if it works.

Additionally, these specific devices should have more detailed support provided by the manufacturer, so we still recommend contacting them for assistance.

We will keep this thread open so that other users can provide any potentially useful suggestions.

Best regards
