EI.CFG and PID.TXT

I install Windows 10 on a lot of machines on a regular basis. The product key I use to activate Windows 10 is a MAK key. I inserted my MAK key in the pid.txt file and along with the ei.cfg copied it file to the \sources folder in my windows iso. When I ran setup it is asking me to type a product key . What am I doing wrong/missing

Can anyone help?

Answer

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you’re facing issues when using EI.cfg and PID.txt files to install Windows 10.

You may want to make sure that the formatting for EI.cfg and PID.txt is correct as per the key that you’re using. You can refer the article Windows Setup Edition Configuration and Product ID Files (EI.cfg and PID.txt) and see if that helps.

In addition, we do have a dedicated forum where you should find support. I would suggest you to post your query on Windows on Q&A, where we have support professionals with expertise to assist you with your query.
