Edited photos saving as XML Documents

I have used Photos to edit images, but the edited images are now saved as XML Document rather than JPEG. How do I resolve this as I am unable to see the photos. Thank you.

Are you using encryption on your PC?  If so, here's a thread that discusses the problem (see page 2).

Looks like Tom_WC has found the likely culprit: file encryption. Are you using file encryption? That would explain you can read the file - but after writing it - it can only be read again using the computer that wrote it. It must be decrypted first.

What form of encryption are you using? I'll try to look it up.
