"Ease cursor movement between displays" in Settings

I have seen this setting: "Ease cursor movement between displays" referenced. I have two monitors, not the same size, and the cursor "sticks" at top and bottom corner of the main (larger) screen.

The setting ""Ease cursor movement between displays" in Settings" doesn't appear in my settings. The references I see show it under

System->Display->Multiple Displays. Don't see it there, or anywhere else.

Since this is a problem on my system, I think this would be useful. Suggestions anyone??

thx,

MH

Hi Mark. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

You can enable the setting for Ease cursor movement between monitors here:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/turn-on-or-off-ea...

Let's try all the available fixes for cursor sticking in dual monitors.

You said it sticks at the top and bottom of the main screen. Are the monitors arranged vertically or horizontally. Is it getting stuck between the two?

Try these fixes:

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

Thanks, but I don't these get to the problem.

For one thing this is a Windows 11 system.

The problem is the cursor sticking at upper and lower corner of the main (large) monitor, where there isn't an appropriate match to the smaller screen. Movement through the rest of the screen border is not inhibited.

Here is an example of the setting that's supposed to handle this. For some reason, this doesn't appear on my system, so I can't turn this setting on.

When you have multiple displays and try to move your cursor or windows between monitors, they would normally get stuck if the display borders don't align at the crossing point.

Starting with
Windows 11 build 22557, it is now easier to move your cursor and windows between monitors, by letting your cursor and windows jump over areas where they would previously get stuck.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off
Ease cursor movement between displays for your account in Windows 11.

What do you mean you have WIndows 11. The tutorial to Ease Cursor Movement between displays is from Eleven Forums, for Windows 11. This is the top tutorial writer in this industry. He always provides multiple methods to do things. In this case he not only shows how to enable it in Settings, he gives you a reg file to load that will add the setting. Did you try this?

The rest of the tutorials work equally for WIndows 10 and 11. Did you try them? They usually fix cursor not being able to move between monitors.

My system is Windows 11 Home .

The tutorial to Ease Cursor Movement between displays is from Eleven Forums, for Windows 11

I assumed that this forum also dealt with W11. Perhaps not?

In this case he not only shows how to enable it in Settings

I don't have that setting. That's the problem /question.

he gives you a reg file to load that will add the setting.

The registry change modifies an existing key. My registry doesn't have that key.

thx....

Thank you for clarifying . I'm not sure why the registry key isn't present. Do you have the latest version and are fully updated?

If not you can download the ISO from https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-downlo..., double click to mount it, right click Setup to Run as Administrator. This is not only the best way to upgrade to latest version but also a Repair Install that can fix problems.

I understood what you also wrote about cursor not moving between areas that don't match due to screen size difference. But did you try the fixes I gave you anyway? These often fix this problem so I would try them even if you don't think they match your problem exactly.

I'd also post a Comment in Shawn's tutorial asking what he recommends for getting Ease Cursor Movement installed. The great thing about MVP Shawn Brink's Ten Forums tutorials is that he is usually the best expert on the subjects he writes about, and is usually easily accessible in the Comments section of his tutorials where you can contact him if you need further help.

I know more now:

His tutorial is about Windows 11 build 22557

This is the development track, early release. I try to stay on the "stay low risk behind the bleeding edge track", and have the standard release.

I'm hopeful that when the next release arrives it will have this feature.

There is at least one app I have tried that does this, but unfortunately it has enough other problems that I won't be using it.

Thanks for you help.

You are most welcome. Let me know if I can help further. I'll stay subscribed to this thread in case you need anything else, until the system locks it in a few months.
