dxsetup.exe failing to initiate/run/update

Hello, I have been trying to install oculus software via oculussetup.exe, but everytime it comes up with an error saying that dxsetup.exe has failed to initialize or something like that. I go dirextly to dxsetup.exe and run the instillation, and at the very end when it says "installing" an error comes up saying "an internal error has occurred, please refer to DirectX.log or DXError.log for details. I Windows + R both of these files and the result comes up as these files not existing. please help, i really want to get my rift going!

1. Try installing in clean boot mode -
Boot your computer in Clean boot mode.
Refer to the section - Install, uninstall, or run an application
Don't forget to do - Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting.

2. Please use this Microsoft Fix to see whether this sorts out the problem for you

hello, I tried the clean startup and the oculus setup still ran into that problem. I also tried the auto install/uninstall fixer and that didnt have oculus installer or directx listed, so i clisked not listed and no problems were found. I did some troubleshooting of my own and found this:

There are two folders, IXP0000 and IXP0001.

IXP0000 has none of the winrar folders of all the directx versions, just dxsetup, dsetup and dsetup32

IXP0001 has the same 3 as the other one but has all the winrar folders of directx

Heres the thing: I run dxsetup in IXP0000, and it works perfectly, while if i run it in IXP0001 it fails and has that error.

I think thats a clue leading me to believe the directx winrar files are corrupted in some way. the odd thing is, I try and install new ones from the internet and it still fails
