DVD Drive does not work is not recognized after upgrade to Windows 7

Hi, After clean install from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit my DVD drive is not recognized by Windows. The drive does not show up in Explorer.

When I open up the drive manually, the drive appears in Explorer and als so in Disk Management and Device Manager . Clicking the DVD driver in Explorer makes explorer freeze.

I have no !-mark associated with the drive in Device Manager.
I tried Disable Driver Signature Enforcement option
I tried Registry Fix  (remove upper and lower Filters)
I tried bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
I assigned new drive  letter via Disk Management

Nothing helps! No resolution yet.

Please advice. I am running a 6 month ols Acer  Aspire 5738. The DVD drive is a: CDDVDW TS-L663B ATA

Dear Dominic, The Disable the Adaptive Link Power Management (ALPM) feature did it.  Thanks a million.
