DRIVER PNP WATCHDOG

Hi
I'm currently running Windows 10, version 1709 and I've being trying to install Windows 10, version 1803 two times.
All attempts end with Stop code: DRIVER PNP WATCHDOG during one of the restarts.

In fact the update appears to work normally until around 43%, then it suddenly goes up over 50% and then it gets back to 45%, and then again it gets up to 75% and restarts the machine. After that restart  I get the blue screen.

Windows states that it will collect some error info, and then restart the machine, but indeed it does nothing
Can you please advise ?

Maybe the computer tried to auto update in the night and got failed? This is something I can only think of.

These are backup copies.

You would lose all the system restore points.

However, you can manually create one after the upgrade if it is successful.

Hi,

Losing all the system restore points, what if the upgrade retry fails ? will windows be unable to restore to previous version ?
If so, may I execute the command and then create a restore point and them retry the upgrade ?

Thank you

If the upgrade fails the previous version should be restored automatically.

If the upgrade is successful and for some reason you want to go back to the previous build see "Go back to your previous version of Windows" in the following link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/12415/...

I believe all restore points would be deleted anyway upon successfully upgrading to a newer build.

Hi

If I understood correctly the content of the "Upgrade to Windows 10 April 2018 update(1803) using these options" document; method 2 provides "A more automatic option to let the computer upgrade"
My question is: provided that the method 1 option, that I was using so far, is leading to a BSOD while upgrading, will not method 2, with option "Upgrade this PC Now", lead to the same error ?

Also, Is method 2, with option "Upgrade this PC Now", actually an upgrade instead of a clean installation ?

Thank You

Hi,

You suggested me to execute the following command

vssadmin delete shadows /all
from an elevated command prompt and then retry the upgrade.

Can you please confirm if it the command could be issued on the  the "Command Prompt" ?
Need to run the command as an administrator ?
Should it be issued from the path "C:\Windows" ?

Thank You
