Hi Asuszan,

·         Where exactly do you get this error message?

·         Are you using wired or wireless network connection?

·         Were there any changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

If you are receiving an error message prompting that “DNS server is not responding, it could be an issue due to TCP/IP settings which may not be configured properly on the computer. It could also be due to any sort of malware or virus on the computer.

You can follow the methods to try and fix the issue:

Method 1:

Use the Ipconfig command-line tool to try and fix the issue. Follow the steps:

a) Type “cmd” on the Start screen and select Command Prompt.

b) Type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

Check for the issue while browsing on Internet.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to run the Microsoft Security scanner as it could be a malware or virus.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software. This scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

If the issue still persists, proceed with method 3.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to reset TCP/IP settings on the computer and check if it helps.

You can follow the steps:

a) Type “cmd” on the Start screen and select Command Prompt.

b) Right Click on Command Prompt and select “Run as an administrator”.

c) At the command prompt, type the following command and then press ENTER:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

d) Restart the computer.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance with Windows, let us know and will be glad to help.

Hi Asuszan,

·         Where exactly do you get this error message?

·         Are you using wired or wireless network connection?

·         Were there any changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

I have this same issue. I thought I might answer these questions  for further assistance.

1. I get this error message after I open Network settings and run a diagnosis on the wireless networkthe specific message is " Your computer seems to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding."

2, I am using a secured wireless network connection at home. My laptop does have an Internet connection but it will lose the Internet connection after the computer  randomly freezes or hangs and then automatically restarts.  I have been trying to figure out what causes the laptop to freeze and reboot. I am able to get a wireless connection after I connect the laptop to an ethernet cable connected to the wifi network and restart the computer.

3. There was no changes made to the computer prior to this issue. I only use the laptop on a secured wireless connection at home. I will say that I was having trouble with Google Chrome and some malware plugin after I completed a quick scan using Malwarebytes software. The plugins were quarantined and deleted. Since this, the current issue has occurred. I have done a system recovery but this has not fixed the current  DNS issue.

I will try the 3 methods and report back if the issue continues or has been fixed.
