Display Color Calibration NOT WORKING + Light Flickering Screen: Acer Aspire 5/Windows 11

I've noticed that my new (~1 month of usage) Acer laptop running Windows 11 is giving me a warmer (yellow tinted, similar to night light) display monitor as compared to other monitors. So, I tried using the Display Color Calibration settings to change the gamma and color balance of the screen to make it more cooler. However, after changing the settings, the changes I made revert back to normal after the "You've created a new calibration screen" and no difference is made.

Another thing I've noticed is that my screen starts flickering sometimes. It is a very light flicker, however it is noticeable. I suspected outdated/malfunctioning drivers but Windows Update shows no such updates and I've even downloaded 3rd party apps to install the latest drivers (IOBit Driver Booster 11 Pro) for my Windows to try and fix the problem, but to no avail.

Please help me fix these two issues ASAP, having these problems on a fresh new laptop isn't a very good look for Windows and Acer.

Hi, average_windows_user

Welcome to the MicroSoft Community.

I understand that it can be frustrating to experience display color calibration issues and screen flickering on your new Acer laptop running Windows 11. Let's troubleshoot these issues step by step:

Display Color Calibration Issue:

  1. Check Night Light Settings: Make sure that the Night Light feature in Windows 11 is turned off. The Night Light feature can cause a yellow tint on the display, and disabling it may improve the color balance.

  2. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer and download the latest drivers for your specific model.

  3. Reset Color Profile: Try resetting the color profile to its default settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings > Color calibration. Click "Reset calibration" to reset the color profile to its default settings.

  4. Hardware Calibration: If the issue persists, it's possible that there may be a hardware-related problem with the display. Contact Acer support to inquire about hardware calibration or potential display issues.

Screen Flickering Issue:

  1. Adjust Refresh Rate: Open the Display settings in Windows 11 and ensure that the refresh rate is set to the recommended value for your display. Setting it to a lower or higher value than recommended can cause screen flickering.

  2. Disable Adaptive Brightness: Disable adaptive brightness in Windows 11. This feature can sometimes cause screen flickering. Go to Settings > System > Display, and turn off "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes."

  3. Check for Driver Updates: In addition to graphics drivers, make sure that all other device drivers, especially display and chipset drivers, are up to date. Visit Acer's official website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop.

  4. Run Hardware Diagnostics: Use Acer's built-in hardware diagnostic tools to check for any hardware issues related to the display.

If the issues persist after trying these steps, I recommend reaching out to Acer support for assistance. They may be able to provide more specific guidance based on the nature of the issues and your laptop model.
