disk partition limit of 2Tb in Windows 10 64-bit?

I recently bought a 3 Tb disk. I installed it with MBR and NTS format,  and it would only give a partition of 2Tb. The rest of the 750Mb left on the disk says it it unallocated. I tried to initialize it as a new volume but it won't let me access it. I was trying to also extend or span the volume but it won't let me do it.

I thought Win 64-bit could deal with volumes over 2Tb. What am I not doing right?  thanks, Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

Since your disk is in MBR format, it can only support a 2 TB drive. You can get the remaining space by converting your disk format to GPT. A GPT disk can allow a much larger partition size compared to MBR disks. To convert your MBR disk to GPT format, we recommend that you look for a third party software.
