Disk offline because it has signature collision with another disk online

Hi everyone.

I recently clone my Operating System WIndows 10 from my Hard drive to Samsung 970 Evo Plus m.2 NVME using Samsung Migration, however in disk management the new SSD is offline with the following notification "Disk offline because it has signature collision with another disk online".

I really want to boot up the SSD to my laptop to have faster start up.

How can I resolve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Is the old disk still in the computer?  If so remove it and then try to boot.

Hi
Each disk gets identifier (signature) during initialization. Windows use this identifier to distinguish one disk from another.
Cloning procedure copies identifier from old disk to new one and you have two disks with same identifier. To avoid disk mess it uses only one disk and blocks another.
There are two ways to correct the situation.
You may clean old disk to remove all information from it and reinitialize it. Run diskpart utility and use clean command. Be careful to not clean new disk.
Change identifier using uniqueid command of diskpart.
Or use hex editor to change identifier - it is stored in 0 sector (master boot recoed). One may use DMDE disk editor for this purpose.

You need to reformat it and change the drive letter.

If you want to boot from cloned system on new SSD you need to change ID on old HDD and change boot order in UEFI.
Be careful, some migration tools cannot correctly do migration to M.2 disks So write down original HDD ID so you could restore it if system will not boot.

Based on your suggestion such as "You may clean old disk to remove all information from it and reinitialize it. Run diskpart utility and use clean command. Be careful to not clean new disk.
Change identifier using uniqueid command of diskpart. "

what will be the next step?

If you right click the space that shows Offline and select Online, windows will automatically change the disk ID and you can use the drive.
