Hello,

Please run SFC /SCANNOW command at administrative Command Prompt and see if that helps.

Hope this helps!

Hi Charley. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

October Version 1809 was withdrawn due to serious problems and is available only through the Windows Insider program Previews on the Slow Ring. You might still be able to Go Back to the old version at Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. If not it's fixes should be pushed out as it is improved before being re-released.

You can also Right click Start button to open Task Manager, show More Details, then choose Processes tab, scroll down to Windows Processes, then further down to Windows Explorer. Right click to Restart, click OK. Restart PC.

If that's not enough then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

Update your drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

If nothing else works and you cannot Go Back then you can following the illustrated steps in this link which compile the best possible Clean Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... The latest version 1803 media is provided.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi,
use third-party ShellExView program to turn off all non-Microsoft extensions and then turn them on one by one to find a guilty one.

I'm past 10 days of the 1809 upgrade, can not resort back to 1803 this way. I'll try your other suggestions and reply back.

I have the same issue. I've actually done an in place upgrade twice now, no issues. System is working flawlessly on a new build of latest hardware. The "new" context menu lags for exactly 4 seconds no matter what I tried. The ShellExView program unfortunately does not give you access to the "new" menu as far as I could tell.

February and still nothing is solved! This slow issue with "new" drives me crazy!!! It's so frustrating to have to wait at least 5 seconds to open, for something that should open in a blink of an eye...
