Dell Latitude 5450 camera is not working

Hi all.

I am in the process of building brand new Dell Latitude 5450 laptops and there is a major issue with the Camera and need some help in resolving this.

The laptops are rebuild to Windows 10 and the camera is not working correctly. It will show in the built in Camera App but when using Teams the camera is detected but no image is shown from the camera, just a black box. Then on a video call the call the Video enable webcam is crossed out.

All the privacy options for Camera and Microphone are set to allow, it even says Teams is using the camera, as of yet no-one has found the cause to resolve it.

All the latest drivers available from Dell are being applied during the build and Windows Updates.

One thing I have noticed is in the camera app a image will show but when you select between video, image and barcode it will show the camera as disconnected until the laptop is restarted. The privacy cover is open.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.
Could you please try re-installing the Camera Drivers and see if it resolves this issue?
If the camera app displays an image after restarting your computer and when switching between the camera functions, it's likely that some other application is using your camera. Ensure you disable all the startup apps in the task manager and reinstall the drivers to see if this helps resolve the issue.
1. Open the Device Manager (Click Windows + X).
2. Expand the arrow next to Cameras.
3. Right-click your Integrated Camera Driver, select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
4. Once uninstalled, restart your PC.
(Windows will automatically re-install the drivers for your PC).
5. Test your camera functions after the system restart.
If you still have problems, I suggest trying the solutions provided by your PC manufacturer's website to see if they help.

Make sure your camera frame server service is set on and start up automatically.

We had a similar issue.
Also this Reg key needs to be set:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

DWord EnableFrameServerMode Value 1. You may also be able to fully delete the key.

I also found that the Intel AV Camera driver from June 24 is best. .

Go check out this Camera firmware relase from Dell.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4yyg7

It
was later applied to several more models. We had a 6 month bout with Latitude 3550's, did everything we could and finally were offered this same firmware update for Realtek RGB cameras after several escalations.

What do you mean by, "I am in the process of building brand new Dell Latitude 5450 laptops"? Do you work for Dell?

What you say you are doing could be a crime, especially if you try to sell the computers claiming they are brand new.

Expect to hear from Dell about this.

Laugh all you want, as a retired Texas Peace Officer, I take it seriously. Dell is just down the highway from where I live. I also own all Dell computers.
