Dell G3 3590 AC Adapter Not Detected

Hey so I have a dell g3 for a year or so and a few days back the hinge popped up so my dad opened the laptop and fixed it.

Right after that the battery doesn't charge. When I plugged in the adapter it didn't charge or acknowledge that it is plugged in but it estimated 172 days of battery remaining. So I let the battery drain and opened the laptop up removed the battery for a few minutes connected the battery again and powered on but the issue still persisted. I checked with the bios and it says that the AC adapter is not installed. I reset the bios to default settings but still the issue remains. I reinstalled the Microsoft AC adapter and ACPI-Complaint control drivers but no solution yet.

I'm down to 2% now.

I have Windows 10 home 1909

Any solution?

Thanks in advance

Hi SincereLion

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

If that power adapter is not recognized in BIOS, then this is a hardware issue, not software

When your dad was repairing the hinge, did he disconnect the tape connector on the Power board in your laptop, if that tape connector is not connected correctly, that is the most likely cause of this problem . . .

Hi I'm really sorry about the late reply

The laptop battery died an hour or so after I posted the question and I couldn't turn it on.

I sent the laptop to the dell agent here yesterday evening cuz lockdown measures were lifted here yesterday. No reply from them yet maybe cuz today is a holiday.

Anyway my dad didn't disconnect the tape connector at the time although he wasn't wearing gloves.

I saw in an article that static discharges can cause issues in hardware so maybe that might have been the culprit?

I'm now using an old laptop of his and waiting for a reply from the agent and I'll update this post when I get a reply.

Again I'm really sorry about the late reply.
