Deleting text by holding backspace is too slow - I don't know what else to try

Hello Everybody,

I really hope somebody knows how to fix this: I saw that a lot of people had this problem, but for me, no solution I've tried until now worked... I always hold down the backspace key to delete words. But this goes very slow, and I do really lose a lot of time "waiting" for it to delete words. I tried changing my settings for the Filter Keys etc. (turn them off), I tried changing the speed for deleting, I tried uninstalling the keyboard driver and rebooting it (which temporarly works, but after a restart, everything is slow again). So I really don't know what else to try.

Strangely, if I backspace one letter by one, it's not slow. Only by holding the backspace or by holding  the right arrow to "go forward through the text". I'm sorry for my mistakes in english, but I figured that, like that, there are hopefully more people reached by this, who can help me maybe.

Thank you!

Belén

Hi BelénHaefely ,

I’m a fellow Microsoft customer and also an expert user. I’m happy to look into this issue for you.

The best possible solution I have found for this is adjusting the "Repeat Delay" setting for your keyboard in Control Panel.

First open Control Panel and select Keyboard. Next, in the Speed tab, move the slider to the right to adjust the "Short" delay for keyboard presses.

If this helps please consider clicking “helpful”.

Try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port if its a USB wired keyboard.

Hey Alexander,

Thank you for your help. I really didn’t try that yet. I’m really sorry to say that, but like everytime, it helped first, but after restarting and putting it to sleep, the problem‘s back, like before.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thank you anyways!

Belén

Hey Andre,

Thank you for your help. I tried the troubleshooter-way, and sadly it didnt help. I tried uninstalling it before, didn‘t help either.

I have a Laptop, so i can‘t try the USB-option. Do you think a BIOS-reset could help anyways?

Thank you however for all your tips!

Belén
