Deleting Norton Backup Folder N360_Backup

I used to have Norton 360 but no longer have it. When I had it, it apparently created a backup folder N360_Backup on an external hard drive. Since I no longer have the app, I want to delete the folder. I have tried changing permissions and changing it from read only but the folder properties will not change and there cannot delete the folder. When searching on web, all instructions start with "start Norton 360" which I can't do.

I would appreciate any suggestions

Dear Neil13764,in that case I recommend that you try using Revo Uninstaller to remove the desired folder:

Thanks for the suggestion but that app would not delete the folder or any of the files.

Hi Neil13764

I am Dave, I will help you with this

Change permissions on that folder, then boot the PC into Safe Mode and try deleting the folder from there

Hi Neil13764

Right click that folder, choose Properties, then select the Security tab and click Advanced, is you click the 'Change' button beside the Owner, can you that owner to a new user named Everyone

Hi Neil13764

We need to check if there is a Norton process remaining on your PC that may be locking access to that folder:

Click the link below to download a small free utility that does not require installation.

https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autorun...

When the file downloads, unzip it.

Depending on your system, run Autoruns or Autoruns64 as Administrator

In the search box in AutoRuns, type norton does that find any entries?

I ran the zip file and there was nothing with "norton" in the list. The external hard drive that has the norton folder was previously used on a different computer which I no longer have. Bought new PC and switched the hard drive to this new PC so it never had norton installed on it. I also did a search of the registry and found no "norton".
