Current Windows password

I am trying to login to Rewards from the control panel, after entering my Microsoft.com password I am prompted for "current Windows password" which I have misplaced.  Can anyone help?
Hi, I am Van. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

If you don't set up any local account, just leave it blank when it prompted for the current windows password. However, if you set up a local account, and your current account has an admin privilege. You can try resetting the password of the local account.

1. Press Windows key + r, then type netplwiz
2. In the User account window highlight the local account then click Reset Password

Hi newhouse_2013,

What we can do is use the built-in administrator account to reset your local account. May I ask are you using a Windows pro edition? If yes, on the User account window click the Advanced tab, then click Advanced under Advanced user management. This will open the Local Users and Group manager window. Click the Users folder, Double click the Administrator, then uncheck the Account is disabled, click apply then ok.

Switch user then log in using the administrator account. then try resetting your local account.

Have you already tried to leave it blank on the prompt for the current windows password?

Best regards,
Van

Hi newhouse_2013,

This means that you are using a Home Edition. Let us try another workaround by creating a new local admin account and use it to reset your main local account

1. In the User account windows click the Add button.
2. In the next windows select "Sign in without a Microsoft account"
3. Select "Local account"
4. Fill up the form to create a new user.
5. Once done, double-click on the new user that you created.
6. Go to the Group Membership tab, click the radio button for Administrator, click apply then ok. This will make your new user account a member of the administrator
7. Switch user and log in using the new user account. Then reset your main local account password.

Best regards,
Van

The sign in with a Microsoft account instead is where I get stuck.  That's where the current Windows password dialog is invoked after I enter my current Microsoft.com password.

Hi newhouse_2013,

When you choose to sign in using a Microsoft account, it always requires the current windows password for verification. If you don't set any password to your local account, just click next without entering any password on the current windows password prompt.
