Cumulative updates for Windows - April 2024

I really have an issue with Windows 10 update force feeding me software and/or "features" that YOU find helpful that I do NOT want on my computer. I'm totally in agreement that having system updates is a necessity, but I do not want "extra" software being pushed through on a cumulative update that has no bearing on the health of my system. At the very least, you could ASK me if I want to include additional software instead of just blatently making that decision FOR ME.

Problem with win 11 update. I start up my computer and it goes to a black screen. The mouse moves around I can get into task manager by doing crtl shift esc, I can start firefox.exe or anything else really. but the explorer.exe will not open. It shows in task manager. But I have no desktop.

Please let me know what I can do

Everyone should always look at where the Update is.

I tried that it said it did find a corrupted file, says it fixed it. But when I restart I still have no desktop

Everything was fine before the update today

If Windows update does not latest update means, users can download the update manually, then install it.

it was a program I had used and forgotten I installed

I found my way into the file explorer and found the program disabled it and got my desktop back

This update is not able to install on my Windows 10 machine, just like the previous 2 updates (error 0x80070643, and yes I tried all the fixes from Microsoft). Winver : 22H2 19045.3803
Whatever Microsoft broke in Windows Update, they need to fix ASAP. It's been over 3 or 4 months now. How long are users going to be exposed for security risks I wonder? How many times must users force their computers to shut down because Windows Update will run endlessly trying to install updates it cannot install when shutting down your computer? It's almost meme time at this point.

Oh and no, a manual install will also fail.

It still fails on my end. I have not been able to successfully install a Windows update in months.

My computer started taking this update 3hrs ago, it has said Cleaning Up 100% complete for at least 30 minutes. It should at least give a time to update or restart. I haven't been able to work all day
