Cumulative updates February 2021

This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on February 9th for all the supported consumer releases of Windows 10. 

1.     Windows 10 version 2004 and version 20H2 - KB4601319, Build 19041.804 and 19042.804

2.     Windows 10 versions 1909 - KB4601315, Build 18363.1377

My laptop attempted to install KB4601382 but the update failed and my laptop has been crashing with a blue screen (error such as IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL or PEN LIST CORRUPT or other message) ever since. It is currently on 20H2 - 19042.804.

What's the recommended troubleshooting procedure?

Thank you, that notepad trick is a life safer. I was able to get all my files backed up.

I've noticed two new behaviors, which means it may be time to just bite the bullet and reinstall but I wanted to run them by you first to get your thoughts.

1) When I try to do a uninstall of the latest quality update it says I'm in the middle of the update process and this couldn't be completed.

2) When I try to go through the fix for Start Up repair I get to the 4th step, specifically the 'ren SOFTWARE software.001' command I get the following error: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Is there a way to reset the update and free up access to SOFTWARE so that I can complete these steps or am I kind of screwed at this point and just have to do a format / reinstall?

And for system restore, it's already been passed more than 10 days
So my only option is to reformat, but it's not letting me do that either.

Anything that I do, it will lag for a bit and crash without any error.

How to Fix the ‘You Must Enable System Protection on This Drive’ Error on Windows?

If you can get past that error, you might try other restore points. However, now I recall, you won't have an undo option. You can't undo a point that you restored in the recovery environment or even in Safe Mode. Too bad for that.

(2) You could try to rebuild the BCD & other boot files. At a Command Prompt of the recovery environment (where drive letters may be different), enter the following commands...

DiskPart                   <<<Start DiskPart

List  Vol                    <<<List the volumes & letters

Exit                           <<<Exit Diskpart

Here was mine...

DISKPART> list vol

  Volume ###  Ltr  Label        Fs      Type        Size      Status     Info

  ------------- ---  -----------  -----  ------------  -------  ---------  --------

  Volume 0      D                        DVD-ROM    0 B  No Media

  Volume 1      C   PCR Hard     NTFS   Partition    930 GB  Healthy         <<<Windows partition

  Volume 2      E   WinRE 2004   NTFS   Partition    847 MB  Healthy

  Volume 3         ESP          FAT32  Partition      99 MB  Healthy    Hidden

(a) Is your Windows partition still letter C like mine?

If not, use your own letter in the following command.

(b) If your computer's language is not "US English", we'll have to add a locale parameter. Post back.

BCDBoot  C:\Windows

Close the Command Prompt, & click "Continue" to try a boot to Windows. Good luck.

A System Restore doesn't have a 10-day limit. It won't go back to a previous OS. It just restores the current OS to a point when it was working. Any updates & app & driver installs done after the point was made are undone.

Are you trying these things in the recovery environment (Shift+Restart) or from within Windows?

Did you disable memory integration to allow Blustacks or Nox to run? After that happened, had som serious issues with a brand new laptop. Am still having issues trying to fix. Did restore, reset and re-install. I need a new image of windows 10 to reinstall with a usb drive.

The same is happening to me. Also whenever I try to shut down my pc it asks me to update and shutdown. Is it a bug or my system has some issue.

I am using a Acer Nitro 5.
