Corrupted Zip Files ?

Hi

I am trying to resolve an issue on an HP Laptop (17-by0031na) which is running very, very slowly. It is taking around 5/6 minutes to be usable after switching on. I have just upgraded it to Windows 11 and put in new 16GB RAM.

I have run scans with Malwarebytes and AVG (free) … the last one I tried was an AVG Bootscan which is reporting various items with corrupt Zip archives.

I have tried repairing them with WinRar, which said the repair was done, but have just done the same scan with the same results

Hello,KeithP164

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

Based on the photo information you have provided, the corrupted Zip archives are basically in the Cache folder of third-party applications, where there are usually some temporarily stored cache files and they will be automatically cleaned up after some time. There are many reasons for cache file corruption, such as accidental shutdown or system crash, but they have nothing to do with the system files and will not bring serious impact, so you don't need to worry about it. You can keep all the important data files in the system first, then restore the system to factory settings and re-download the applications you need, this way you can return the system to a relatively clean and optimized environment, and then let the third-party applications reconfigure.

If you want to initialize your system, you can refer to this link and choose according to the system condition and your needs: Reinstall Windows - Microsoft Support

If you need further assistance, please let us know the issues you encountered during the operation, and we will provide you with more advice.
