Corrupt files while installing iTunes

Hello everyone, I recently tried to update my iTunes to the latest version, having only installed windows 10 a while back the iTunes update wouldn't install. The error message was 'mobile service device failed to start' tried to remedy that and it didn't work. Got another error 'error 7 Windows error  126' some of you may know what these mean.

Basically after to talking to Apple they said I have corrupt files somewhere any I should speak with Microsoft, I would if I had a contact number to call them on! I couldn't seem to find one anywhere!

anyway, that's why I'm here.

After googling the problem and trying various thing like removing all Apple components, running a system file check sfc, I have corrupt files and don't know how to fix them.

Im not the most computer literate there is but I would give a few things a go.

so can anyone help? All I wanted was to update my music library Please help!

thank you in advance

Hi,

Thank you for getting in touch with Microsoft Community.

I understand how frustrating it would be when the things won’t work the way we want.

As the System Files Checker (SFC) scan detects the corrupt files on your computer. I suggest you to run the DISM command on your computer to fix the corrupt files. Follow the instructions provided below.

  1. Open Command Prompt with administrator access.

  2. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

  3. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  4. After the repair is complete, restart your computer and check.

Hope this information is helpful. Please write back to us if you need any further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you.

Thank you for the reply,

when I type this in all I get is: Image Version: 10.0010240.16384

then I am unable to type the second line in? Am I doing something wrong, is there supposed to be spaces in the prompt?

hi again, I got it to work.....

this time it says: error: 0x800f081f

the source files could not be found

Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see http:got.microsoft.comfwlink/?Linkid=dismlog

The dism lof file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

would this be beacause I uninstalled iTunes?
