Control Panel Search bar appearing twice

I am using Win 10 Pro. Just after recent update to build version 18363.657, I noticed that Control Panel search bar is appearing twice and only the left search box is allowing me to type. Also with Control Panel open if I click on Search Box in task bar the control panel search bar is appearing as expected. I guess this is a bug and should be addressed.

Even though Control Panel is being phased out that is likely caused by corruption in the install or User account, so let's try to find and fix it:

1) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

2) Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

3) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the fast response.

Its a clean install of Win10 with no unnecessary software. Kaspersky and Malwarebytes both reports no issue. 

Windows system, BIOS and drivers are up to date. 

What I noticed is this issue appears only in version 1909. This is because my other system is running version 1903 and there is no issue like this.

I would uninstall any 3rd party antivirus in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features and try running only built-in Defender which gives adequate protection, best Windows performance, least issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.

After uninstalling antivirus in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features, run any additional removal tool for it that's listed here:

Restart the PC, then type Security in Start Search, open Windows Defender Settings, there and in Windows Defender Security Center fix anything that's flagged.

If you want the best on-demand scanner download and install Malwarebytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
In it's Settings > Security tab enable Scan for Rootkits.
Then on Scan tab choose Threat Scan and Run Scan.
Clean up anything found, restart PC and then run again until it comes up clean.

If you want to keep Malwarebytes as an on-demand scanner then you can disable its Real Time trial version in it's Settings > Accounts tab.

sfa /scannow reported no issue as well.

However, I resolved the issue by uninstalling version 1909 from Windows update. As I suspected that is only impacting version 1909 because my other system with version 1903 is running fine. Refer the screenshot below. Day by day Microsoft is making things worse. Unfortunately you people are not bothered to take customer complaints seriously and log defects. Rather Microsoft is providing some workarounds which don't work at all.

If you want to complain to Microsoft use the Feedback Hub app in Start Menu where developers are tasked to process consumer feedback. But Microsoft will not even see it here because this is a tech forums where we are mostly volunteers trying to help solve your problems.

Control Panel is going away any day now, being replaced by Settings. So it's not surprising they are maintaining it with less priority.

Nevertheless, I'm glad you got it fixed.

I do understand that Greg. Please don't take anything personally. That was just a feedback as customer. Because you know right there are many problems that we are facing with Windows 10 and a lot are being reported in media as well. So all this things is going to irritate us at some point of time. After all we are human beings. Win 7 do not have such issues as with Win10 there is no proper dedicated QA team. 

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help and the good work that people like you are doing to keep the spirit high. :)

Yeah, I have the same issue with 1909, I just recently did a clean install, with nothing installed & this is occurring.
