consumer IR devices - this device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)

What do I do about this? Computer keeps freezing. Says this in Device Manager:
Consumer IR Devices Properties - this device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)
BTW, Windows 7. HP Pavillon Home Premium 32 3-year-old computer.
PLEASE HELP!!!
PS - it also says it for eHome Infrared Receiver

Code 31 means: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

Update the driver for the device to fix this issue:

a. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, and then click Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

b. Expand the device to be updated.

c. Right click on the device. Click on Properties.

d. Under the driver tab, click “Update Driver”.
