Constant High CPU usage in window 10

I have been having problem with high CPU usage in my window 10 for the past few weeks.

It started few weeks ago which consumes around 30-40% of CPU persistently.

At that time i noticed that the program that causes CPU consumption is google chrome. And the CPU usage will stop once i stop the process but it will pop back out after a while which i have to stop the process again. I was not even using google chrome webpage at that time (it was closed).

In the end i tried uninstalling google chrome and reinstall it. However the problem persists. So in the end i totally uninstalled it.

However after that the problem moved on to firefox. It was the same thing, CPU consumption of around 30% constantly when i startup my computer and firefox was not open. Firefox was not in my startup list of program in task manager.

This time i tried opening firefox performance and noted that it was not using the CPU (shown in the picture, only 1%) however in the task manager it shows 25.6%.

It will stop when i end the process. However everytime i startup my computer it will be the same problem.

This firefox was newly installed and i have disabled all extension that came with it.

I don't know what is the problem with the CPU consumption.. how it move on from chrome to firefox?? Is there any possibility of a malware or program mimicking these website that consumes the CPU?

I did a complete scan with Avast internet security and found nothing wrong.

Really needed some help.

My system is

Windows 10 pro

intel core i7-7700k

16gb ram

aorus gaming mobo Z-270x gaming 7

Hi Allan. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

When you mention Avast it's a clue. No expert in Forums where we see the most cases (by the tens of thousands) has recommended Avast for about 8 years since it bloated up and started causing issues, but we do solve problems by having it uninstalled.

I'd uninstall any 3rd party antivirus and try running the built-in Defender which assures best Windows performance and least issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.

Use Avast Clear to get out all of it: http://www.avast.com/en-us/uninstall-utility

Then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

Update your drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. Compare the latest drivers with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now. Give special attention to the Network drivers.

If nothing else helps then run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This solves many problems and will also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

But remember that Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Refresh that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
