Consistent blue screen on HP Victus 15

I keep getting a blue screen with "VIDEO MEMORY MANAGEMENT INTERNAL". It only happens when I use the laptop off the charger and when I use chrome. It's an HP Victus, Ryzen 5 7000, 16gb RAM, and an NVIDIA 2060. I've tried updating my drivers and I've run about 5 memory diagnostics and nothing shows up. I've done repair corrupt files with "sfc /scannow" in command prompt but nothing seems to work. Are there any other solutions or should I just take it in? I've had it for about 2 and a half years now and this has never happened until now. I've been having the problem for about 2 weeks now.

Hi Kanna,

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome. Since the blue screen only appears when you're on battery and using Chrome, it's possible that Chrome’s GPU acceleration is stressing the video memory in low-power mode.

To do this, open Chrome, click the three-dot menu, then go to Settings. Scroll down to Advanced and in the System section, turn off the “Use hardware acceleration when available” option. Restart Chrome and see if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes!

I actually don't have hardware acceleration on... Is there anything else you suggest?

Hi Kanna,

Let's try switching your power plan on battery to High Performance. When you run on battery, many laptops throttle power to the GPU to conserve energy. This throttling can sometimes cause instability in video memory management, especially when running GPU-intensive tasks, even in Chrome. Try opening Power Options from the Start menu, selecting High Performance (even on battery), and then test Chrome again to see if the blue screen issue stops.

Sorry for the late reply... I will try this for a bit! I just had it crash 2 times in a row after opening twitch. The screen gets extremely laggy and crashes soon after.
