Computer randomly restarting or powering on

Hi,

I am having a problem where my pc is both randomly shutting down and sometimes randomly powering on.

My PC specs are -

Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight Core CPU (3.2GHz-4.1GHz/20MB CACHE/AM4)

Motherboard

ASUS® TUF X470-PLUS GAMING (DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX) - RGB Ready!

Memory (RAM)

16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2933MHz ~ (2 x 8GB)

Graphics Card

8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 580 - HDMI, DP - DX® 12

1st M.2 SSD Drive

250GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 2300MB/W)

1st Storage Drive

240GB ADATA SU630 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 450MB/W)

I have tried the following to stop it -

  • Changing the socket the PC is plugged into

  • Checking there are no loose connections inside the PC

  • Removing and re-seating the graphics card

  • Updating Graphics card driver

  • Disable Automatic Restart

  • Disable fast startup

  • Updated group policies

  • Malware Scan

  • Windows Virus scan

  • SFC Scan

  • CHKDKS Scan

  • Attempted to repair using windows update

  • A full windows re-install (deleting all apps and settings but not files)

I have attempted to update the BIOS as it is a few versions behind but a crash happed while I was moving through the first bios update windows and so I have given up because if a crash happens during the BIOS update I don't want to brick my motherboard.

There is no minidump folder or memory.dmp file on the C drive

Here are the event logs if anyone can make sense of them?

Application logs.evtx

System Logs.evtx

Any advice please help?

Dear Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply and feedback. I am glad that there are some ways in my reply that can help you. But I apologize that I was not able to fully resolve it. I did post all the methods I could think of for this issue.

It seems that replacing the power supply seems to have solved the random reboot issue. If you find that you are still having reboot issues without any updates. You might consider overriding the installation of the system once (with all files deleted), but that does seem a bit overwhelming. If you can back up your data, that might make you a little happier. If it doesn't work either, then the problem is likely to remain on the hardware side.

However, considering that you have already overridden the installation of the system, I think the probability is that the problem is still on the hardware side.

Above all, thanks a lot for talking to you and trying my methods. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Have a nice life!
