Compaq Prescario CQ57 Pluged in not charging.

I got a new battery for my laptop and it worked fine then started saying Plugged in not charging. Please Help.
You should take the machine to an authorised repairer to get it checked out. The charging circuit is part of the machine's hardware, not a software function in Windows..
Windows 10 Pro - Start10 - part of a local network which is a '3rd party optimizer-free' zone..

There is nothing within Windows that can fix a physical hardware problem.

If the machine runs happily while connected to AC power, in all probability, the charger and power cord are working as they should, but inside the machine is a small board, maybe a replaceable unit, maybe permanently fixed to the motherboard which splits power between the main machine and the battery as needed. If this has failed, you need the services of a an authorised repairer.

The trouble with trying to work these problems out for yourself is that they can become quite costly, replacing parts like the battery for instance when it is not actually the battery that has the problem. One way or another, you are going to have to get it checked out.. :-)

So does this mean that your charger wasn't powering the machine?

I know this troubled me too but then it thought about it but it was powering the computer but not enough to charge the battery.

I have only come across a situation once before, but it was a desktop machine that would start up ok but would shutdown if anything was attempted on it. The clue was a very dim Power LED on the front panel.

Lucky for you that you had another which you could try.. :-)
