Changing The Clipboard Shortcut key

I would like to know if there is a way to change the shortcut key to open the clipboard on my laptop keyboard (windows 10) for example instead of it being Windows + V the shortcut becomes Alt + V or Ctrl + V etc…

Hi Mezj,
I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
You can use PowerToys to change the shortcut key combination.

Download it here:

https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases...

Download and install PowerToys, after installing it, open it, go to Keyboard Manager > Under Shortcuts, select Reamp a shortcut.

On the "Remap Shortcuts" window, on Physical Shortcut, select Type and press the key combination you want to use, on Mapped to press Type and press the key combination that creates the shortcut. Press OK to save, and it is done.

Hi Rodrigo,

I downloaded PowerToys as you recommended and tried to remap Win (Left) + V to Win (Left) + B for Clipboard only. (I want to retain Win + V for PureText.exe.) I located the service name cbdhsvc_1a861c for the Clipboard, but PowerToys does not allow me to enter a Target App. The cursor merely blinks in the Target App field but I cannot type or paste anything into it. Running PowerToys as Administrator does not change this behaviour.

I would be satisfied by remapping this way only for PureText.exe rather than Clipboard, but as I say, the Target App field is unresponsive.

This remapping is incredibly annoying. Powertoys doesn't allow a remap of the clipboard functions for me, but does work for other things. In my case, the clipboard history application opens up when I try to do a simple ctrl-v paste as if I'm using windows-v. So every single copy /paste action I do has to involve this annoying history window to click the item I want to paste with a mouse. I have tried using something for the application name that may work for you, but did not for me, which was to use clipboard.exe as the app to remap a shortcut to. Depending on your setup & system, it may work - worth a try at least. For me, I got an error that one of my shortcuts could not be saved, but I'm using a Logitech keyboard and not a stock, built-in windows laptop keyboard on a laptop. How great is it that we have to download something else like powertoys to fix an annoying Windows "feature"?
