Change administrator name in Windows 10

Hello everyone,

I want to know how can I change the administrator user name of my windows account. I don't mean the name of the folder of my user in Windows. I mean the subname that my user account have. Really I don't know where can I do this. I tried to change it from accounts administrator and there is no opcion for this "subname"only for the "name" and I tried to change it from the register and neither. I upload a image where I marked the name I want to change.

You can change the name of the built in admin account by using the command prompt. There's a decent guide here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/rename-administrator-account-in-windows/

(Note: It means Windows 8 but also applies to Windows 10).

Sometimes we need to change Administrator and make a Standard user as an Administrator or give Admin rights to Standard user in order to give complete freedom to that user to access and manage the pc. To change the administrator name on windows 10, simply follows these steps;

1. search control panel at the bottom of your screen and open it.

2.  Click "User Accounts"

3. Repeat step 2

4. Click "change your account name"

Thanks so much for your comment! I just had to have a new hard drive installed in my laptop and Geek Squad made my account name "Owner" and it was driving me crazy. I tried every way I possibly could to change the name and nothing was working. Funny thing is I knew that I needed to do it in control panel but I kept clicking on settings thinking I was in the control panel. My brain clearly was not working today lol so thanks for the reminder!

Why hasn't Microsoft answered this question.  Where is all their built-in help?  I keep running into problems with my laptop and Windows.  My hard drive went out in 10 months of buying a new PC and Windows is getting more and more difficult to change some simple little thing.  The Geek Squad put my legal name on my computer as administrator and I would like to change it to my nickname (what everyone calls me).  HELP??????
