Certain text not appearing correctly

Some of my text does not appear correctly, it's kind of difficult to explain, but certain parts of letters are missing spots and this happens on multiple software. Strangely, it only happens on the specific text, like what I'm typing right now has the strange problem, but the notice above my text and the URL don't have the problem. Also, whenever I highlight text that has the problem, it appears clear again.Image

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand your concern related to texts not appearing properly on your PC. For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

  1. Which build version of Windows 10 are you using currently?

  2. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing issue?

  3. What is the make and model of the PC?

Refer the article Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try adjusting the ClearType text settings and see if that helps. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

  1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.

  2. In Run dialog box, type cttune and hit Enter.

  3. Check the box next to Turn on ClearType and click on Next.

  4. In case you are using multiple displays you will be asked to click on Yes or No to tune all the displays or the one which you select.

  5. Once selected click on Next.

  6. Now select the sample that looks best to you and click on Next.

  7. You will be asked to select 5 samples that looks best to you every time you click on Next.

  8. Once you are done selecting the samples click on Finish.

In case you are still facing issues, you might want to update the display drivers on your PC. Refer the article Update drivers in Windows 10

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, I'm currently running Windows 10 Home edition x64 version 1903. I'm assuming that the problem happened due to a driver or windows update but I'm not 100% sure. My pc is made by PowerSpec and has a GTX 1060 6gb and an Intel Core i5-8400. All my drivers are up to date. I have also tried Clear Type already, no improvement.

Hi,

Thank you for replying and apologize for the delayed response.

One of the things that you can try is re-installing the Graphics Card on your PC and see if that helps.

  1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run

  2. In Run dialog box, type ‘devmgmt.msc’ and hit Enter.

  3. Expand Display adapters.

  4. Right click on the display driver and click on Uninstall.

  5. Now check the box Delete the driver software for this device.

  6. Click on Uninstall

  7. Do not restart the PC now

After uninstalling the drivers, download the graphics drivers from the NVidia website and perform a Clean Install of the drivers. Kindly follow the steps below to perform Clean Install of NVidia drivers.

  1. Navigate to the location where the driver is downloaded (Usually it should be in the Downloads folder).

  2. Double-click on the driver to run it.

  3. Click on OK to start extracting the driver packages.

  4. Accept the License agreement and proceed further.

  5. Under Install options select Custom (Advanced) and click on Next

  6. Check the box next to Perform clean install and click on Next

  7. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I performed a reinstall of my graphics drivers. I did come up with a small issue when the Nvidia software did not allow me to reinstall my graphics drivers, but I managed to fix the issue. Unfortunately, no improvement, I think it is my monitor though. When I viewed the image on my phone, everything that did not appear clear appeared clear.
Update: I managed to fix the problem by changing the settings on my monitor, they were making the text look weird.
