Can't update to Windows 10 22H2 - This PC can't run Windows 10

Hello,

I've been getting a message in Windows Update that I'm missing important updates, but when I check for update, no major update is installed.

Image

In this thread I learned you can force Windows to update by downloading a installer from Microsoft website. Seeing that I'm indeed on older Windows version (21H1), I tried to update manually. Unfortunately, after running through the whole installer I got a message that this PC can't run Windows (although the installer said otherwise in step 1). The message also contained something about isntallign on a USB drive which I wasn't even doing. There was also a error code after closing the first error: 0xc1900201. Here is a screenshot:

As I read somewhere this can be related to partition size, here are my partitions on boot disk, I have bunch of disks installed, but Windows should be on one smaller SSD:

(Apologies for a part of the UI being in Czech, I have my Windows in English, but for some reason parts of it just aren't)

I have a bit older Ryzen 5 3600, which is partly the reason I haven't upgraded to Windows 11, but I hope this isn't the issue.

Thanks for any insight.

Hello, I'm Manoel Barros!

One of the methods to force an update to install is by using a USB Flash Drive. Try this solution:

1. Create an Installation Media. You will need the following items:
- A Flash Drive of 8GB or more.
- Computer with internet access.

ATTENTION: Back up the files on your Flash Drive to a safe location, as the Flash Drive will be formatted.

2. Download the Media Creation Tools from the link below.

3. Open Media Creation Tools > In the Permission Window, select "Yes".

4. Accept the Terms > In the next window, check the option "Create Installation Media (USB Flash Drive, DVD, or ISO File) for another PC" > Continue.

5. In "Choose how the Media will be used", select the option "USB Flash Drive" > Select the Flash Drive > Continue > Wait for the Installation Media to be created.

6. When finished, open File Explorer (WINDOWS + E) > This PC > Double-click the Installation Media > Click Setup.

If the problem persists, it means that your Windows is quite corrupted and will not be able to update itself. Your Windows Build is old, making it difficult to update to a newer Build.

Unfortunately, if the problem persists, you will need to perform a Clean Install of Windows.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

IMPORTANT: If you are unsure about carrying out this process and you lose your data and programs, take your computer to a trusted Service Center. The professionals will take care of your data and help you in the best possible way.

- Always look for Service Center with good reviews or recommendations from friends and family who have already been there.

# Clean Install
ATTENTION: You must manually back up your files to another location, as all files and programs will be deleted. If you do not have experience and knowledge, take your device to a specialized and trustworthy technical assistance!

1. In the link below, Kapil Arya MVP explains how to do a Clean Format.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

2. Update Windows and install drivers via Windows Update.

ATTENTION: Do not use third-party programs to install drivers (only from the Manufacturer or Windows Update).

# Update Windows and Drivers
1. Open System Configuration > Click ''Update & Security'' > ''Windows Update'' > ''Check for Updates''.

2. Download all available updates. Click ''Show optional updates'' marked in blue > Select all drivers and updates > Click ''Download and Install''.

3. When everything is finished, restart the computer > See if the problem appears while performing the steps above.
