Can't reset Pin

I can sign into windows with my password, but am unable to change my pin.
Instructions say go to settings>account>sign-in options>pin

When I do, there's no option to change pin.
There's a button that says "set up pin".
When I click it, it asks to input pin. I tried several options, but was told they are incorrect. When I click "I forgot my pin", it simply says "go to setting>account>sign-in options>pin to change pin.

What should I do?

Hit the windows key type in ”sign-in options" in the search box. The reset Pin should be there. You most likely will need to sign in with your accounts password.

Hi. Jerry here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

If you are unable to reset your Windows PIN, you can try the following steps to fix the issue:

1. Make sure that your device is connected to the internet.

2. Check if you have the latest Windows updates installed. If not, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click on "Check for Updates."

3. Try restarting your device and then see if you are able to reset your PIN.

4. If none of the above steps work, try removing your PIN by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > PIN and then clicking on "Remove." After that, restart your device and then try setting up a new PIN.

If you still can't reset your PIN, you may need to reset your device to its factory settings. Before doing this, make sure to back up your important files and data.

To reset your device to its factory settings, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
2. Click on "Get started" under the "Reset this PC" section.
3. Choose whether you want to keep your personal files or remove everything.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen to reset your device.

Note that resetting your device to its factory settings will remove all of your installed apps and personal files, so make sure to back up everything important beforehand.

"Reset pin" is not there.

1. Connected.
2. Completely up to date
3. Already restarted several time. Unable to reset pin from login screen (it simply says to go to accounts). Unable to reset pin after using password to access device. See above.
4. There is no option to remove pin.

Resetting device to factory settings is not really an option: very time consuming and a huge amount of trouble to reinstall everything. I'll just use a password and hope I'm never asked to use the pin on this device.

I see. Well one work around the you can try also, is to

1. Create a new user account by going to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users and click on "Add someone else to this PC". Follow the prompts to create a new user account. Then, try setting up a new PIN on this account.

2. Open command prompt (Press the Windows key + X and select "Command Prompt (Admin)")
- Type the command "net user [username] *" (replace [username] with your actual username) and press Enter.
- You should be prompted to enter a new password.
- Once you have changed your password, try setting up a new PIN.

3. If you are using a Microsoft account to sign in to your computer, try changing your Microsoft account password. Then, try setting up a new PIN using the new password.

Please let me know if you still need further assistance. Thanks
